Thank you to all those who supported the ACE Mentor Program 2017 Scholarship Breakfast. ACE awarded $60,000 in scholarships to 13 students. Honorees included: Jane Golden, Executive Director of Mural Arts Philadelphia, ACE Person of the Year Award; Swarthmore Town Center West, ACE Suburban Project of the Year; and Museum of the American Revolution, ACE Urban Project of the Year. Mentors, sponsors, and attendees represented 100+ companies in the region's design and construction community. ACE Mentor Program Students Gained Hands-On Experience at FTI:
On May 3, a team of ACE Mentor Program students from Mastery Charter High School visited FTI and participated in the hands-on Storefront Systems course. University of Pennsylvania Project Manager and ACE Mentor Rafael de Luna III, MSCM, LEED AP O+M, CFM, CEFP, spoke enthusiastically about the experience. "You have an awesome team of instructors and a really cool training facility! I was so excited to be there, I felt like enrolling in your program." AGMA and AGI member contractors came together with their glazing labor partners for education and networking last week at the 2017 AGMA Annual Labor/Management Conference. The conference was held at Opal Sands Resort in Clearwater, Florida.
Contractors enjoyed professional education sessions on law and insurance presented by Cohen Seglias Pallas Greehall & Furman, PC, and Ashmead Insurance. The educational opportunities available to all participants included a Wiss Janney Elstner description of building enclosure conditions, J.E. Berkowitz explanation of new offerings, an FTI overview of iTunes University, and an AGI program update.
AGI sponsored Team Glass Gals in the March 2 Giant Jenga tournament to benefit ACE Mentor Program of Eastern Pennsylvania. Stephanie Staub of AGI, Kristie Bergey of the Center for Architecture, Amanda Weko of AGW Communications, and Amanda's daughter Elliotte (a late stand-in for AGMA's Lisa Godlewski) made it to Round 3. In February, Graboyes Commercial Window Company announced Ellis Guiles, PE, LEED AP, (pictured) had assumed the role of owner and president. Guiles and his investment partners acquired the company from previous owners Tricia Scott, John Scott, and company founder Terry Graboyes. The new entity is in the process of registering as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). Read the Graboyes News Release

Paul Rabinowitz Glass Co. Inc. earns NACC Certification
AGI member contractor Paul Rabinowitz Glass Co. Inc. has earned the North American Contractor Certification (NACC). The award recognizes contractors who demonstrate consistency, quality, and safety excellence. President of Paul Rabinowitz Glass Mark Rabinowitz said, "Attaining this certification took time and hard work, but showed that being an industry leader is ongoing." Congratulations!

Meet Tanvi Harkare
Tanvi Harkare is a senior at Methacton High School where she participates in the ACE Mentor Program. After graduation, she plans to study architecture at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa. Tanvi was the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship presented by ACE Eastern Pennsylvania on behalf of AGI. Read more about Tanvi here.
Graboyes Commercial Windows Ranks #43 on Glass Magazine's Top 50 Glaziers List According to Glass Magazine, "U.S. glazing companies grow, while managing backlogs and a continuing labor shortage... Seventy-seven percent of Top 50 Glaziers reported an increase in year-over-year sales in 2015, marking the fourth consecutive year that more than two-thirds of Top 50 Glaziers reported gains." Congratulations Finishing Trades Institute - ACE Mentor Program Organization of the Year
It was the biggest turnout in ACE Eastern Pennsylvania history - 460 members of the design and construction community attended the annual Scholarship Breakfast and Awards Program at which FTI was honored as Organization of the Year. Thank you to all of the AGI members who were there to offer support and congratulations.
