On 11 November 2022, the Architectural Glass & Metal Association (AGMA), the Signatory Contractors Association (SCA), and the Philadelphia Building Trades hosted a working luncheon to address development in the City of Philadelphia, focusing specifically on the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and The Navy Yard.
Event attendees were given an opportunity to review the Capital Plan Submissions through 2023 for the University of Pennsylvania shared by Anne Papageorge, Senior Vice President for Facilities and Real Estate Services. Building overviews included architectural renderings of such buildings as Amy Gutmann Hall (2024), Vagelos Laboratory for Energy Science & Technology (2025), and 3600 Civic Center Boulevard (2025).
Drexel University Vice President of Real & Estate & Facilities Alan Greenberger presented a similar outlook for Drexel, offering sweeping overviews of physical growth for the university over the next five years.
Finally, Leslie Smallwood, Founder and Co-Owner of Mosaic Development Partners, spoke about the need for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in allocating the billions of dollars in construction spending slated to take place over the next decade in Philadelphia. With that at the forefront of everyone’s mind, Smallwood offered an in-depth look of the explosive $6 billion growth of The Navy Yard including, but not limited to, the following projects currently being overseen by Mosaic Development Partners: 1201 Normandy (office), Chapel Block (residential), and hotel redevelopment (hospitality).
